Geonosis

When we first built Geonosis, the scene already looked much the way it does today. The cables were hidden less well and were rather conspicuous, the lighting was considerably weaker — and the key difference: the MOC was built in tan.

After the rework we settled on reddish brown. Today it would probably be a mix of dark orange and medium nougat, but back then those parts were available neither in the quantities we needed nor at reasonable prices. Colour-matched droid arms were out of budget as well — and we felt the B1 droids stand out nicely as they are.

The main focus is the staging area, where the Republic’s clone army lands and moves out against the droid army of the Trade Federation and the Separatists. Two AT-TEs are deployed, to be replaced in 2027 by modified AT-TEs from set 75337. Above them hovers the LEGO UCS Republic Dropship, having just set down an AT-TE. Facing them stands the droid army with hailfire droids and spider droids. At the edge of the staging area you can spot Padmé lying on her back — a nod to the scene in which she falls from the gunship and a clone rushes to her side.

Below that sits a small cave with the Phase 2 Geonosis troopers, fighting the Geonosians in the catacombs and turning their flamethrowers on them. A tiny Batman can be found here too.

Another small scene is a lit holotable where Poggle follows the staging area, holding the Death Star hologram in his hands.

Next to it lies the great hall, where Anakin and Obi-Wan duel Count Dooku. Yoda can be seen approaching in the background, and our running gag Jar Jar Binks is hiding here as well.

Underneath the duelling room there is a small version of the droid factory with a conveyor belt that is actually motorised. Just like in the film, C-3PO has a new B1 battle droid head fitted here.
